My new angry, honest, racist, foreign mechanic

“Hello, [company name withheld] Auto Repair”

“Hello, I’d like to make an appointment to have you change my car’s manual transmission fluid.”

“You have a manual transmission car?”

“Yes.”

“You don’t need to change the transmission fluid.”

“But–”

“Leave it alone.”

“But–”

“Who told you to change the manual transmission fluid?”

“The people at EZ-Lube.”

“FUCK THEM!  Don’t listen to those crooks!  Sometimes, I don’t have time to change my customers’ oil, so they go to those places, and then they come back and tell me, [name deleted, but it's an Asian Indian name], “I’m never going to go there again–they tried to get me buy all these unnecessary services!”  They have all these, pardon me for saying this, SPANISH GUYS who just want to rip you off!  Leave your car alone.  I’m not going to change your transmission fluid!”

“Uhh, okay.  Thanks.”

So this mechanic is clearly honest, which is the #2 thing to look for in a mechanic (after “competent”).  He’s also kind of angry and a little bit racist.  Umm, but there’s something kinda trust-inspiring about a mechanic that gets really grumpy when asked to do unnecessary repairs, even if he has to resort to some ethnic stereotyping to do so.

I think I’ve found my new mechanic.
